Done barefoot to diverse and inspiring music, the Nia technique is a grounded, non impact cardiovascular fitness programme that teaches you to move Joyfully, be expressive and feel more Alive in your body. NIA is the third biggest Mind-body fitness programme in the world, it blends the stillness of Tai Chi, the dynamic poses of Yoga, the power and punches of Tae Kwon Do and the Joyfulness of Dance.
Come to move, to dance and to have fun.
Nia is all about remembering how to

‘Nia is a sensory-based movement practice that draws from martial arts, dance arts and healing arts. It empowers people of all shapes and sizes by connecting the body, mind , emotions and spirit’. At a Nia class you will be encouraged to move and dance barefoot to music. You will learn to love moving in your body in its own individual way and to develop your awareness about what your body wants and needs. Every movement can be taken at your own pace and intensity and can be adapted to your own needs and energy levels each time you come to class. There is plenty more information about Nia on the website. To find out more about why I decided to become a Nia teacher read this.
Because Nia teaches you to move in your body’s own way, all the movements can be adapted to your own body’s circumstances. Nia is for any body shape or size. You will be asked to read and sign a fitness disclaimer (like that filed out in Gyms and other exercise programmes) at your first class. Please do get in touch if you would like to confidentially discuss your fitness and personal circumstances before you come to class.
